Terrifically Two Years Old - Janie!
Dear Janie,
Independence has a name, and that name is Janie! Happy second birthday to you!
There's so much about you that I absolutely love! Where do I start?! Maybe I should go with your rogue sense of fashion. You're a girl who loves her bling - the more Mardi Gras beads, the better! Floppy hat or crown? Yes, please. :) Every girl needs her oversized sunnies and a good pair of heels. Press on a pair of adhesive earrings, and you're good to go!
And go you do! Before you mastered walking, you were unsteady on your feet, but you were MOVING! Music is a real thing for you, and dancing is your jam! Girl, you've got the moves! Papa is highly impressed with your throwing arm and is secretly dreaming of your future softball career. You love a good snuggle - if we can chase you down and catch you! And once you settle in, a good book (or two) is fun to read.
Personality? TONS of it! That little sprig of a ponytail on the top of your head says it all - life is too short for fancy hair! There are cookies to be eaten, a beat to dance to, corners to be hidden in, puppies to pet, funny faces to make - and not enough time in the day to do it all. Which I guess explains why you literally ask to go night-night every evening.
You're busy, silly, flirtatious, opinionated, and loving. You're trusting - how many times have you thrown yourself backwards in my arms - knowing I would catch you? You're carefree and smart. You're the driver of the bus, and we can get on or get off, but the bus is moving on!
And, little Jaybird, I see how God can use a girl like you in this crazy world. We need someone who is certain that there is a light-hearted side to life. Someone who knows that the spirit matters more than the outfit. Someone who motivates us all to keep moving forward (and to even throw in a dance move every once in a while). Someone to inspire us to squeeze every ounce of life out of every single day. And someone to remind us that when we've busied ourselves to exhaustion, it's okay to rest.
Oh, sweet girl! There is so much about you that I admire, enjoy, and need! So happy to celebrate my Little Miss Independence! Happy birthday, Janie!
Always loving you with all of my heart,
Milly
