Happy Birthday to Our Little Lefty

Dear Eleanor,

Happiest of birthdays to our sweet little lefty! This year feels big to me - I guess because you started "big school" this fall. You marched right into Fisher Elementary as though it were built just for you! And I guess that even though I knew it was coming, my heart wasn't quite ready for that.

So what is six-year-old Ellie like? You're the queen of ALL the feels - the girl with the biggest laugh, the frown of doom, the brightest smile, and the most glamorous pout. Never is there a question as to which way the wind blows with you. If you feel it, we know it!

Saying you're a complete girly girl is an understatement! You love the mall and could easily spend a lifetime and a stack of cash shopping at Claire's. You beg for make-up sets and love mani/pedi's. You're living proof that a girl can never have too many accessories.

Kindergarten has turned out to be your happy place. You've had your eye on Mrs. Volentine as your teacher for two years now, and you finally have her! "Social butterfly" tendencies are emerging. Reading is your passion. In fact, you were so ready to read, you practically taught yourself over the last year or so.

At home, that reading thing comes in handy when Mom needs an extra reader for Jack at bedtime. Jack has definitely benefited from your skills as he can call on you to read to him any time. When you're not at school, you, Jack, and Lucy can be found knee deep in Barbies, Legos, and playing family. Of course, you're always up for a good craft or an impromptu dance party.

You've really figured out that whole swimming thing, and your soccer skills are coming along. But where you REALLY shine is DANCE! Your recital in June was out of this world! You never missed a beat - every bounce, flounce, and tap was right on time! Girl - you absolutely sparkled! Yes, ma'am, I see dance as a part of your world for a long time to come.

Ellie, I love to see you becoming more confident and outgoing! In every new situation, it doesn't take long for you to make new friends. You're a leader who likes to have fun, and I know that God will put your talents to good use in His kingdom. This year at VBS, you learned the fruits of the Spirit. I'm praying that love, joy, peace, patience, kindness goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control will continue to grow in your heart. You are precious to me, little lefty.

Always loving you with all of my heart,

Milly
