Pocket Thoughts - 11/1/24

Special Gratitude Edition

Welcome to my favorite month of the year! Thank you for joining me as we turn our hearts and minds to thanksgiving for all that the Lord has done for us! Let’s go!

“In that day you will say: ‘I will praise You, O Lord. Although You were angry with me, Your anger has turned away and You have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation.’ With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. In that day you will say: ‘Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done, and proclaim that His name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for He has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel.’” – Isaiah 12:1-6

“Gratitude is an offering precious in the sight of God, and it is one that the poorest of us can make and be not poorer but richer for having made it.” – A.W. Tozer

“I am grateful for (my husband) who keeps his cool and gives a reasonable perspective when I’m letting my emotions and anxiety get a hold of me. I am grateful for my faith, although it’s hard to have faith in something you can’t physically see. When I am in the trenches, it’s so hard to be patient. But God is always there. I am thankful for my children. God gave them to us for our time on earth. My children bring many challenges, but in the end (hopefully), it will make us stronger as a family and as children of God. I’m thankful for my middle child right now. She is receptive to my feelings, our belief in God, our role as Christians in this world. She is holding me up as I walk with (my oldest child) through a hard time. My prayer is that my children have a firm foundation that we have put in place so they can stand strong.” – HC

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“I’m thankful for being able to help my mom (appointments) and that I had eye surgery and can see 20/20. And that I can sleep late. 😊” – A Friend Who Has Recently Retired

“An evidence that our will has been broken is that we begin to thank God for that which once seemed so bitter, knowing that His will is good and that, in His time and in His way, He is able to make the most bitter waters sweet.” – Nancy Leigh DeMoss

Lord God Almighty, we thank You for Your power and might over every situation that we bring to You in prayer. Thank You for saving us and for giving us an endless supply of blessings – that we may boast in You and in the countless deeds You’ve done on behalf of Your children. Thank You that every challenge we face is never faced alone, but with Your support and help. May we be joyful, prayerful, and thankful in all circumstances, for this is Your will for us. We love You and thank You in the beautiful Name of Jesus. Amen.
