Lessons and Reminders from My Vacation

You may think that I did nothing on vacation, but that's not entirely true. I thought. A lot. And lucky you get to hear what I thought.😊

-- It's easy to get out of bed in the morning when you're excited about what's ahead.
-- Put important stuff in places that you'll remember later.
-- When you're in the same frustrating circumstances as lots of other people, it's nice to hear positive conversation.
-- Sometimes, grumpy people just need for someone to be nice to them.
-- Eye contact and smiling don't cost you a thing.
-- Even bad traffic will eventually get you where you're going.
-- Walk around while you still can.
-- Staring out the window isn't always a waste of time.
-- I sometimes wonder why God cares about teeny, tiny specks of people, but I'm always glad He does.
-- A cat nap may be all you need.
-- Holding hands with someone you love is a very good thing.
-- I can eat a sandwich really fast, especially if I'm hungry.
-- Leave room in the suitcase for souvenirs and presents.
-- I can eat a cookie even when I'm not hungry.
-- There's no better sleep than a worn out, "Gee, that was fun!", tired from a busy day sleep.
-- Coffee...
-- The beach takes my breath away.
-- Bring home a little sand in your shoes.
-- Even broken things can be beautiful.
-- Writing in the sand is good for the soul.
-- For all of time, God has been rolling those waves up onto the shore.
-- God can make some pretty BIG waves if He wants to.
-- There's a good kind of scary when the clouds turn dark, the winds pick up, and the waves crash hard.
-- Soft, warm bread is a gift from God.
-- A few days without an alarm clock are a good few days.
-- The view from the top floor of a lighthouse is spectacular!
-- It's nice to have someone beside you to talk you through your fears.
-- Things usually make more sense when you know the background.
-- I would not have survived as a pioneer woman.
-- Never pass on an opportunity to walk through a garden.
-- Even if you're having fun, you still miss your loved ones.
-- Pretty sure there will be colors in Heaven that I've never even dreamed of.
-- You can still have fun on a rainy day.
-- There's always something new to learn.
-- Don't read scary stuff right before bedtime.
-- It's fun to eavesdrop on the locals.
-- Walking alone on the beach is peaceful and awe-inspiring. Walking with your boyfriend-for-life is over-the-moon wonderful.
-- Do something for someone you love, even if it's not your thing.
-- On the other side of the jetty, the water is calm and you can hear each other better. It's kind of a long walk, but it's worth it.
-- The right kind of leftovers can make a pretty tasty dinner. Just add soft, warm bread and a little glass of wine.
-- Things look different in the daylight.
-- Thank God when your sweet little waitress reminds you of your grandmother.
-- God knows how to grow some pretty big trees.
-- When in doubt, wear the comfy shoes.
-- God has a wild imagination, and sometimes He sprinkles imagination seeds into a person's heart and mind and creates an artist.
-- Rain doesn't need your permission.
-- Behind every face is a soul.
-- Buy fresh flowers today.
-- You'll never appreciate the gift of smell more than when you're walking through a huge market full of freshly baked everything.
-- Sometimes you have to walk uphill to get where you're going. It's okay to stop and rest along the way.
-- Grace comes in handy no matter where you are.
-- Never regret eating a little ice cream.
-- Sitting in comfy chairs with cups of hot tea on the table between us, feet propped up next to each other, good books in our hands, minds miles away but still on each other...
-- "Thank you!" -- good words to use your whole life.
-- Some people always seem to have good ideas.
-- A warm, chopped brisket sandwich at 9:00 at night in your own kitchen can feel like a feast in a palace.
-- Dorothy was right -- "There's no place like home."
